Dear Kindergarten Parents,

It is almost the end of the first quarter. Your children have been working hard with lots of enthusiasm and dedication.

P.E. CLASSES: For the next two weeks P.E. classes will be playing soccer out on the field. Please make sure you apply sunscreen on your child the mornings we have P.E. class (Mondays and Wednesdays). Children are also encouraged to bring a hat to wear during P.E.

CLASSROOM PARENT: Thank you to Stephanie Aragon for volunteering to be the Kindergarten classroom parent this year. She will be contacting you for help and support for upcoming classroom activities and events.

SPAGUETTI DINNER: The PTO is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner on Friday, October 2 at 6:00 to 8:00 pm. For $5 enjoy a delicious Italian dinner with all proceeds donated to “Mujeres de Lucha” and InterAmerican Academy Physical Education Department.

LANGUAGE ARTS: We have covered letters A though Q. We will continue to learn two letters per week. Please review the letters at home with your child every day after school (lower and upper cases).

MATH: We will be learning how to count and write numbers to 10. You can help your child practice counting by having him/her set the table. Here is what your child needs to do:
• Decide how many places to set.
• Count the number of forks, spoons, knives, napkins, plates and cups needed.
• Set the table under your direction.

You can also have your child practice counting by making snack bags. Here is what your child needs to do:
• Decide how many bags are needed.
• Decide which snack foods to use (such as raisins, crackers, cookies or peanuts).
• Decide how many snacks to put in each bag.
• Count the snacks and put them into the bag.
• Save the snack bags to use when he/she wants a snack!

SCIENCE: We will finish our unit on the Human Body. We will also learn about insects and we will plant our tomato garden…

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will learn the following concepts:
- Seasons
- Families Around the World (We will have our family breakfast on Friday, October 16th at 7:30 am)
