Dear Kindergarten Parents,
It is the beginning of the second month of your child in kindergarten. Each day the children seem to feel more at ease in the class and they seem to enjoy all the different activities offered here at I.A. They each have different responsibilities each week within the classroom and they look forward to completing them successfully!
Parent and Student Handbook
The office reminds parents to read the Parent and Student Handbook given out on Friday. Please sign and send the last page of the handbook back to school.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
We have covered letters a through e. We will continue to learn two/three letters per week. Please review the letters at home with your child every day after school.
MATH:
- We will be working on our unit on how to sort things. Your child could help you sort the laundry. Here is what you can do:
Sort the laundry in different ways:
• by size
• by color
• by type of clothing.
Then your child can help you fold his/her clothing and put them away.
- We will also learn that a pattern is created when something changes and the change repeats over and over. We will explore where to find patterns and how to recognize them. Here is something you can do with your child:
Play “Follow the Leader”:
You be the leader.
Decide on a movement like HOP.
Then change the movement to CLAP.
Repeat the HOP, CLAP over and over.
I will figure out the repeating part and do it for you.
Then we can do it together.
We can do more of these on another day!
SCIENCE:
We will continue to study the five senses and we will also learn about the parts of the body and how to keep ourselves healthy. We will also continue to learn about wood and paper.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
We will learn about families.
Have a great month!
Ms. Monica
